No Multiplayer For Arkham City!

The sequel to the phenemonal Batman: Arkham Asylum is well under way, and fans have been questioning whether or not we'll see multiplayer in the latest installment.  Game developer Rocksteady hasn't exactly denied those rumors either.  Until today that is.  In a recent interview with IGN, the developers confirmed that we wouldn't be seeing multiplayer anywhere in Arkham City.  Woe to us gamers!

Or not really.  I'm actually very happy about this.  Game developers don't suddenly decide "lets add mutliplayer!" and have it magically appear.  No, making a solid multiplayer experience requires enormous effort, not to mention additional playtesting and online support.  And those are resources that have to come out of the single player development.  I would rather they focus on creating a memorable single player campaign than adding a half decent multiplayer mode that I never play.

It will be a long wait till next fall, but I can't imagine this game not being awesome.  Arkham Asylum is one of my favorite games of all time, combing intense combat with stealth that actually felt like stealth.  All the developers have to do is add some more depth to the system and it's good to go.  Sounds like surefire success to me.
